Are You Overpaying at the Pump? Discover Hidden Gas Savings

I recently asked friends who drive for a living – including taxis, Uber, and Lyft drivers – if they use coupon codes when filling up their cars.

To my surprise, almost everyone said "No"

When I asked why, the most common responses were:

  • that they hadn’t heard of any,

  • the app download and signup process seemed too complicated,

  • or they simply forgot to use the codes.
One person even bluntly stated they didn’t believe in such things.

Well, I’m here to tell you that gas savings are possible!

I’ve been using gas rewards apps for a while now and have managed to fill up my car many times for free.

I started with GetUpside, the old name if I recall well.

With these Rewards, I diligently filled up there for about six months.

I was surprised to find that I had accumulated enough points for a free tank after only a few months.

By the second year of using it, I had earned enough for a second free tank.

This was a huge saving, considering the rising gas prices.

Before I used Shell Rewards, I used BP and Upside. While I found them both helpful, I ultimately decided to stick with Shell due to its higher rewards per gallon, the ability to claim T-Mobile gas rewards every Tuesday, and the easier-to-use app.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

 * How long does it take to earn enough points for a free tank of gas?

The time it takes to earn enough points for a free tank varies depending on the app, your driving habits, and the gas prices in your area. In my experience with Shell Rewards, it took about four months of consistent use. Here is the screenshot of the receipt for filling up the tank.

 * Are there any restrictions on the type of gas I can use?

Some apps may offer higher rewards for specific gas grades (like premium or diesel), but most allow you to earn points on any type of gas.

 * How do I redeem my points for a free tank of gas?

The redemption process varies by app. Some apps allow you to redeem points directly at the pump, while others require you to use the app to generate a discount code.

 * What are some other popular gas reward apps?

In addition to Shell, some other popular options include BP, Upside, and Kroger Fuel Points.

* How do I maximize my points on gas rewards apps?

Consistent use, bonus offers, and paying attention to expiration dates are key. Do not forget to check your emails as well. Here is another image.

 * Can I use multiple gas rewards apps at the same time?

While possible, focusing on one app often yields better results.
